Reason #27: Private Servants

Too many of our leaders act like they’re on the corporate payroll. Take former Republican congressman Billy Tauzin. The pharmaceutical industry gave him almost $100,000 for his reelection campaign in 2002. Tauzin earned that money back for them and a lot more during his next term when he worked tirelessly to pass the bloated Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit. The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America organization was so pleased with his efforts, it offered him a $2 million a year job. He could barely wait until his term was up to accept.
Public Citizen called Tauzin’s move, “Yet another example of how public service is leading to private riches.” Unfortunately, Tauzin rode to his private riches on the backs of the US taxpayer. The Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit is nothing but a massive subsidy to drug makers - to the tune of more than a trillion dollars over the next decade.
Unbelievably, thanks to Tauzin and other bought off legislators, the law bans importing cheaper drugs from Canada and actually makes it illegal for the federal government to negotiate lower drug prices for Medicare subscribers. Drug makers get to charge whatever they want and we - the taxpayers - have to fork over full freight. That’s the kind of service the pharmaceutical industry paid for when it bankrolled Tauzin’s political fortunes. A hundred grand in campaign donations and, now, two million a year in salary are nothing compared to the trillions they stand to make thanks to the gift of a law Tauzin gave them.

Public Servants as the piece above demonstrates in a microcosmic fashion, reflects the sad truth about the overwhelming majority of our Public Leaders. The Medicare and Medicad vote referenced above, really screwed the American Taxpayers. And them some!!!
On a related line of thinking that is frightening in it’s structue and scope, I just heard on the TV news.
The LA County School System is going to test elementary school children for their later proclivity in life, to get involved in a gang and it’s lifestyle. When they are older.The school Mental Health staff and teachers will be administering the tests to the studants.
I live just outside LA County. LA is the murder capital of the USA and has been for some time. Gang conflict and their attendant violent acts, including thousands of innocent people shot to death by a stray bullet.Happens daily!!!
If a test that can indicate future Felonious behavior, so proper and sensible intervention can head gang life off, “At the Pass” is ok by me.
However in an Unamerican,anti-family, unenlighted and surrepticious fashion only teachers and mental health workers will have access to each studants test results.
The School Board is not sharing, nor will it share test results with parents, police and the courts. Ya sure.
There are several things that bother me about the testing. I sure want to see gang involvent down but don’t tell me that a kid now 11 years old, won’t get arrested later on, when innocent and the States Attorney will supeona that test to use against the kid. If DC leaks don’t you think LA leaks. Duh!!!
Worse is that the imformation will not be shared with the parents. How can that be? The kids are minors. I don’t see how it is legally possible for the school system to withold the results of a school administered test from the parents.
The very idea that the school system has contemplated giving a parent’s minor child a test, on an important issue, and the parents are not allowed to see the results is beyond the pale.
Not just the school but parents are quite good with good intervention when armed with good data.
The reason the School Board is trying to leave the parents out of the loop is proof positive to me that evil people are trying to destroy the primacy of the family unit. They use every chance to destroy family, schools, institutions and American values.They are on it, pass legislation in support of it, use the MSM and any othe tool, like TARP to destroy the American Nation.
This does not mean the entire school system in LA is bad. It just means there are evil people reaching everywhere they can to facilitate the destruction of our nation. Not from without our borders but from within.
BE ALERT, CHALLENGE CHANGE THAT DOES NOT FEEL RIGHT AND REALIZE SOME PEOPLE ARE WORKING TO DESTROY THE USA FROM WITHIN.
